WHY RETRO GAMING IS STILL POPULAR
Retro gaming has become really popular again in recent years. Even though new games have amazing graphics, huge open worlds and online multiplayer, many people still enjoy going back to older consoles and classic games. Whether it is the PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Game Boy or Sega Mega Drive, retro games have something about them that modern games do not always have.
One of the main reasons people like retro gaming is nostalgia. For a lot of people, old games remind them of being younger. They might remember playing games after school, competing against their friends, or spending hours trying to complete one difficult level. Hearing the music from an old game or seeing its original loading screen can bring back loads of memories.
Retro games are also much simpler to play. Most of them let you start playing almost straight away, without having to download updates, create an account or sit through a long tutorial. Games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario, Crash Bandicoot and Mario Kart are easy to understand, but they can still be really fun and challenging.
Another reason retro games are still enjoyable is that they usually focus more on gameplay. Older consoles had limited graphics and storage, so game developers had to make sure the game itself was entertaining. The levels, characters and controls had to be good enough to keep people playing. That is why many classic games are still fun today, even if they do not look as realistic as modern games.
The challenge is also a big part of retro gaming. A lot of older games were difficult and did not give players loads of help. You often had to learn from mistakes, practise levels and keep trying until you finally completed them. This can make beating a game feel much more rewarding than simply following markers or instructions the whole way through.
Retro gaming is not only for people who played these games when they were younger either. Plenty of younger gamers are now discovering old consoles and games for the first time. The pixel art, retro music and simple gameplay give these games their own style, and they are a nice change from newer games that can sometimes feel too complicated.
In conclusion, we think retro gaming is still popular because classic games are fun, simple and full of personality. They remind older players of good memories, while also giving new players the chance to experience some of the most loved games ever made.
HOW RETRO GAMING WAS REVIVED IN TODAYS WORLD
In todays world, retro gaming is more accessible than ever!
Due to modern tvs not supporting old outputs (e.g. VGA) there were many years where retro gaming was not easy to play.
However in recent years many converters and products have contributed to the retro gaming scene by making them playable on new TVs. This has also contributed to the popularity of retro gaming now.
There are also many other projects contributing to the retro gaming scene, such as emulators, flash carts and much more!
